Mold and Die work:
Steep walls of a headlight lens mold are finish machined with a 1-1/2" long cutting tool when using a tipped head.This allows machining at 300 ipm and still maintains excellent finish and accuracy. A 4" long cutter running at a much slower feed rate would be required if cut on a 3 axis machine tool.
For optic molds, there is virtually no tolerance - they have to be cut exactly to size. You can't achieve zero tolerance by hand. The combination of a tipped head with shorter cutters gives us the ability to precision machine areas of a part that couldn't be cut within tolerance with a 3 axis machine.

Aerospace Parts:
Complex or ruled surfaces can be machined in one pass for superior surface finishes and lower cost.

Short run production jobs:
We can machine up to 5 sides of the part in one setup, yielding more accurate parts with a faster delivery. This is especially advantageous for parts with holes or features at compound angles. Fewer setups also means lower fixturing costs and less chance for error.
