Azimuth
was the name of a very complex part that we machined.
Because
of a nondisclosure agreement we cannot tell you much about the part.
We can tell you the aluminum billet weighed 900 lbs. when it arrived
and only 23 lbs when we shipped the completed part. There were also
some difficult features and tight tolerances that required our 5-axis
expertise. The name of the part was "Azimuth".
Upon
completing the Azimuth project we knew we had arrived. We had found
our way from a "machining laboratory" that is part of
a CAD CAM reseller to a precision 5-axis machine shop that can successfully
compete with any shop in the world.
As
it happens the root word of Azimuth means "the way taken by
a traveler". It is a fitting name to describe our transition
to a machining company. More importantly it is a fitting word to
describe our continuing journey to provide better service and greater
value to our customers.
